Hi Peeps.

I bought these off Minispares thinking it would come with instructions, but no.

So Basically how do these work with each other? Or am i missing something?

Thanks for any help.

Ps. wasn't sure about putting this in Technical, But didn't think its really a "proper" problem, so feel free to move.

here's a quick sketch, you get the pull cable and feed the smaller wire through the key hole on the end, then you slide a barrell screw on (which is included with the cable) and tighten up, that easy

Im just using it as a main power switch to cut out all the power to the car. But as its not FIA approved you cant switch it off when the engine is running or it will mash something up (apparently). Im just using it for security more than anything.

Edit: Thought i might add that ive got the switch mounted in the engine bay and the release handle internally, as i wasnt happy with the idea of 12v un-fused live feed in the cab.

A friend of mine had problems with one of those cheaper cutout switches.

If you get any weird electrical / ignition problems that don't seem to go away what ever you do to fix it, try by-passing the cut out switch as they can sometimes play up. I used to help a friend who raced in the Beatle Cup and he had an intermittent misfire. We replaced the plugs, leads, rotor cap & arm, coil with no joy and was about to replace the distributor when we were advised to check the master switch. We joined the leads together and the misfire disappeared, so he then bought the more expensive switch and had no problems after that.

His might have been an isolated case but it's worth remembering.

Ok cheers. Worth bearing in mind. Anyway for those who care i mounted it like this: (slight variation on Dan's method)

I think it looks quite neat, but the engine bay will have a good clean up when the new engine (finally) gets built, and dropped in. It still needs wiring in but its a job for the weekend (if its not raining) :shades:
