Passed my A2 motorcycle test today and have put a deposit on a Honda VFR400! Just waiting for it to pass its MOT then its off to get it and have some fun!

Its a 1989 NC30 in SP2 colourscheme with a Tyga system. Sounds awesome being a V4 and redlining at 15k! :shades:

And at 18, insurance is £337 TPFT !

Nice! Would love to learn to and then ride bikes, I have a feeling I would just kill myself though...

Congrats, and nice bike.

This is nothing against you but I do find it confusing as to why bike insurance is so cheap. I don't know what the performance of that bike is but I can almost guarantee you will not be able to insure a car of equivalent performance for that kind of price at 18. IMO, I would say that, especialy in the first year, someone is more likely to have an accident on a bike.

Before that starts an argument, I am not saying that all bike riders are lunatics and are dangerous but there are a fair few that perform somewhat irratic manoeuvres.

I hope you have fun on it and stay safe.

Yeah, Ferrari's are a bit hard to insure at 18 :shades:

i had a nc30 when i was 17 and done my a2 license, restricted they can still do 130mph but take ages getting there, power comes in at around 7500rpm with the restrictor it does'nt!,normally just a disc in each carb with a little hole in it to reduce the flow of fuel/air.de-restricted they are a great starter for riding sport's bikes easy to ride and handle really well if anything you'll become over confident and find yourself riding everywhere flat out  .

mine was a 89 model costing £2500 8yrs ago (f28 toy was the reg :D )and my insurance was £1000 tpft!! a much better alternative than your standard 17yr old's car with out a doubt

my advice is go buy some leathers(from personal experience air amulance is not fun)focus on your riding and not the half naked women on the pavement and have fun thrashing chav's in their saxo's

oh and by the way it was proved that a vfr400 can be quicker than a r1 along a set route around country roads so it's not all about the size of the bike it's how you ride it

The law states I must be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years and then I can move on to a 200+bhp Hayabusa. Weird hey!

Its not a very enforced law though, most insurance places dont even ask for the certificate anymore!
