Can any one give me a clue on how to set up a new fuel regulator on an engine that has not been run yet, to get the engine running and then to set it properly? Thanks

you'll need a fuel pressure gauge, i use a "gunson lo gauge" about £15 from halfrauds.

take the fuel pipe from the reg to the carb and disconnect it from the carb. stick the gauge on the end, switch ignition on so that the pump is running and check the pressure.

to adjust it undo the locknut on the regulator and screw it in/out untill you get to roughly 3.5psi. anywhere between 3 & 4 psi is fine.

thats it, it wont need adjusting when the engines running properly as it does it itself. if you want to check the reg is working then T piece it into the fuel line and wedge it under the window wiper, take it out for a spin and watch the gauge.
if you set fuel pressure @ idle to 3.5psi then running 10psi boost it should show 13.5psi fuel pressure, it should always stay 3.5psi above boost pressure basically.
