Hi there TMF,


Just thought i would get everyones opinion and find out what you all think is the best games console out there at the moment.

I'm not really into games but I love the Wii the game with the rabbits is ace

Judging my the amount of time my other half spends on the Xbox 360, I'm guessing that's his favourite so I'll vote on it on his behalf

Hi there Angelic_Fruitcake. Thanks for the input. I do think that the Wii is a great console but you have to have quite a big area to play it. Wii fit is an excellent idea and i love the bowling(such great fun on those party evenings)

however it looks like the PS3 is getting a lot of interest more so than the other 2 consoles

Actually I think its the first time in years that there hasn't been much competition in the gaming market.
None are better than the others really, it all depends what you're after.

PS3 is by far the most powerful machine, it has some strong game design teams behind it and perhaps most importantly, it has the cheapest available bluray player built in. If you're a 'serious gamer', going for the whole total immersion thing PS3 will be the best, but you'll pay the price for it.

XBOX is probably the best value for money IMO. Its still quite powerful and the games available are just as good, with perhaps a slight edge on the PS3 just because it has a few more big designers backing it thanks to the American market. LIVE is excellent, bringing a whole new edge to gaming, and is said to be much better than playstation's online service, but i've no evidence on that.
My console is a 360 and i love it

Wii on the other hand is a totally different market. It's sold differently and i really wouldn't consider it alongside the PS3 or 360 anymore. Its definitely a more 'Fun' orientated console, it doesn't take itself anywhere near as seriously so if having a laugh and using your console to work out a little stress or just to kick back with mates is more your thing, then the Wii is going to be the best of the 3.


IMO the playstation is the better machine, or at least, it as the greatest potential. That will come down to the games though at the end of the day, and so far its falling behind. If they could fix the pricing (we still pay up to £100 more in the uk than the rest of the world just because they know we'll buy it), it would steal away with the competition with no problem.
Till then ill keep my 360

I do think that the graphics on the PS3 are simply stunning and the online playability is awsome!!!!! I love playing guitar hero 3 online aswell. everyone is for there own tastes i feel. I think that the Wii is more focused for kids (but still great for adults alike) it isnt made to be graphically stunning jsut for the fun factor.

Lovin my Wii at the moment.

Had PS3 but never used it so it went to my Nephew who loves it

I think maieth says it all really, except the online part, I have a PS3 most of my mates have Xboxs and the only difference between online play is there seems to be more people online on xbox but you have to pay for it.

Xbox release far more games in a short space of time, but PS3 are starting to catch up now but still market games better so theres only really 1 great game released every few months rather than xbox releasing about 5 and non of them selling overly well

it all comes down to cost, the wii can't realy be compared to a PS3 or an xbox, graphics, games, game play itself are all totally different. if you like having lots and lots of games then get an xbox as it will be abit cheaper. I have a PS3 as playstation is what I have grown up with and I hate the xbox controllers, and I'm the type of person that gets a game and completes it rather than getting 5 games and never finishing them, also I got mine from a freebie site so it only cost be about £40 blagging my mates to sign up

I think they all have their pro's an cons...

We have a Wii which is great for families

If it were mine I'd have a PS3, basically as it's also a BlueRay player

ps3 for blu-ray but beside that the 360 wins hands down.

Great online with great support and people moan about online costing, so its less than £3.50 a month.

Game wise the ps3 has one or two decent exclusive titles but not worth buyin one for esp wen they cost a fair bit more than a 360. Majority of ps3 games are on 360 and the games are also cheaper, theres a much larger range of games on 360, over double. Along with downloadable content not avaliable on ps3.
Also stuff like msn is built into 360 and music player which can also stream from your pc (ps3 wont let you use custome tracks in a game only on menu)

ps3 is worth getting for a blu ray and GT game (when proper version is out) and possibly metal gear solid, but these dont justify the price as i really have no need for blu-ray and blu-ray discs are stilll overpriced, often over £20 for a new movie where dvd is still good quality and often half the price.

360 major bad point is the red ring of death but this doesnth appen to the later (and now only ones sold new from most major retailers) such as the arcade (now replacing the older cores, at only £150 with wirless controler and everythin you need to play and hdmi output)

ill get a ps3 when theres more better games and lil cheaper, nothin on it atm takes my fancy apart from gran turismo as loved them on ps2 altho its a £20 demo out on it atm. Not fussed about HD as have like a 12yr old tv. Just want cheap console which is fun. Ive always prefered sony til now, had ps1 ps2 psp (sold psp as was borin, also had ds bt never used it so sold that)

SO now i have a laptop and a 360 (pc is in corner not working)

I see where your coming from to be honest. I do think that PS3 is better than the 360. I udes to be a microsoft fan with the old classics but i just think that the ps3 has excelled itself and is such a great all round console!!!!!
