Hi all
I did a really silly thing and bought this engine/ box sight unseen- with a box and a CAM4610 labelled head with no bypass hole.
I thought I would follow the HBOL and rebuild an engine as a summer project.

The block has no number ( dammit ) but ONLY a casting number which is 12G 1279.
The pistons which came with the block are labelled AE 19320 and each has stamped on it +0.030. The bores on the
block are all 2.76 inches.
Could some kind soul tell me what this engine is ( or was !!). I'm assuming its a bog standard 998 a series leaded system.
I've attached a couple of photo's.
cheers all.
Colin

The size of the bore you gave in MM's is 70.14mm

Which seems to tally more with a 1275

As above 1275 block as no tappet covers on the back

If the pistons say +0.030 it has been overbored but my brain is letting me down on to what size, bigger than 1293 which is +0.020 so probably 1310 or something (someone please confirm)

I seem to remember a CAM4610 is a 998 head thou?

well the blocks obviously been over bored by 30 thou, hence why each have +0.030 on so if you minus that from the bore size will leave with standard bore size, will then be easier to work out which it was starndard

Bore for standard 1275 is 2.78" - same as the 970 and 1071 - but don't get excited 'because they don't have cast in tappets!

Block appears to have holes at either end for 10th stud and a bolt therefore my money would be on it being from a 1300GT.

Not certain about rebored capacity but as has been said +20 gives 1293 and +40 gives 1312 so +30 maybe around 1300?

Pistons AE 19320 are listed for 1300GT on following site - which I cannot vouch for - but would seem an unlikely coincidence!

Hope this helps!

I also have a A series block with AE19320 pistons, but mine are +60 making it a 1330, was wondering if you could still get replacement rings for them?

At +0.030" it is a 1301 cc.

Piston rings can be bought from F.W. Thornton of Shrewsbury.
