Uk spec B16 from somethin like a vti civic is 160 BHP at the fly so probably about 30-40 less at the wheels. JDM B16 is 170BHP. UK B18 is around 189, give or take a few, JDM's are quoted to be around the same, but have been known to be just shy of the 200 mark. The japs always keep the best for themselves.
There are of course a multitude of other vtec engines you could use if you wanted to go the rear engine route. K20 is the first obvoius choice with 197 bhp on tap, but again, in JDM form, or from a DC5 Teg, there around 225BHP. Or better still, the FD2 (new JDM Civic type R), but this would be like rocking horse poo at the mo and would cost huge ££
What would be interesting is if the 2 litre lump from an S2000 could be mated up to something like a DC5 box. Don't know if its possible, but Honda do tend to use similar stud patterns etc. This lump is 240BHP out the box and revs to over 9k. Spend a few quid an over 300BHP an 11500 RPM would be possible, but it all depends on that gear box

Got a guy at work with a B18 and he has 270BHP N/A with a 12:1 compression. I was chatting to him and he said there is a world of possibilities and the best components to use are standard Honda parts but from different engines and mix them up.

B16A1 is 150bhp, B16A2 is 160bhp. B16A (JDM imports) are either 160bhp or 170bhp depending on generation.

All the information you could need for STANDARD Honda engines can be found in these links:
Honda H Engines
Honda B Engines
Honda K Engines
Zcars mainly use the K20A2 but can fit a B engine, as for BHP when tweeked, well it depends how deep your pockets are and which way you want to go, N/A or Forced Induction? Both having there own merits.
