Anyone else tried it, I used Meguiars Quik Clay and it's great. a bit fiddly to use but you soon get into the rythm of it. Has left my paint feeling amazingly smooth and after I polished it with Auto glym super resin polish. When it rained the next it beaded real nicely.

Just a shame I put all the energy into making it look nice rather than making it work.

Looks like a nice finish but isn't that clay kit like £25

The larger kit in halfords is like £24 but it is much cheaper on the net, I bought the smaller kit which was £11 it's worth it though because you don't have to clay the car frequently, mostly just before you polish it.

Clay is great stuff, make sure you wax after polish to lock in that shine and make the job last much longer.

you only need to clay around 3 times a year unless you park under a lime tree i us a zymol bar, and as the man previos said make sure you use a good wax after the polish to keep the beading going and protect the shine.

I (well my boyfriend ) clays mine for me, it only gets done once a year but it's well worth it

I'm getting some wax soon, not too sure what to get and how much money, maybe some dodo juice.

Although super resin polish does have some form of sealant in it which will do me for now, I did 3 coats on the bonnets and just one elsewhere just to test the durability.

It's still looking good almost a week later, as opposed to usual.

Does anyone know what i can use instead of the stuff that comes in the spray bottle with the meguirs clay bar as the clay is still nice and clean but the bottle is empty!

You can just buy another bottle of Quik Detailer if you like, you can get it off ebay. There are also other clay lubes out there too, maybe something like clay magic that's a bit cheaper.

Not meaning to sound like a moron, what is, and how do you use clay? heard it mentioned lots but not ever actually used it.

Basically a bar of clay (duh) that you wipre back and forth over paintwork with some form of lubricant (you can just use soapy water) to pick up and remove dirt that can't be removed by washing and polishing alone.

Once your cars been clayed the paints surface will feel much smoother, like glass even if you thought your paint was clean and free of grime before hand.

A good way of seeing how much stuff the clay bar is removing is to clean your car as much as you would if you were going to a show, basically all your effort, then get someone to clay your car and see how dirty the bar gets. There will be stuff coming off that you didn't even know was on there, and after you've clayed it once you'll definitely want to do it again and again.
