I'm about to get my mini back out for the summer, but before i do i'm gonna give the underside a good going over.

theres a few 'surface rust' type bits i'm gonna remove with a wire brush and then treat the whole underside.

I know these have been asked upteen times, but here goes!;

My plan is to do the wirebrushing etc, clean down then paint with hammerite straight to metal stuff and follows this up with waxoyl.

Is it okay to do all this to the sills and subframes too? any extra advice here?

With the sills i was thinking maybe the clear waxoyl as i've never seen the black stuff (or anything for that matter) on the sills.

Also ive seen with my searches a lot about Dinitrol, but theres seems to be many types and lots of numbers! which is the best one(s) for doing the underside?

bet thats all a bit repetitive! sorry

Hi,

I've been doing the exact same job on one of our minis. You can take a look here if you like. I've got lots more pics to add of subframe after painting and rebuild. I'll add them this week.

Yep, hammerite then waxoil on underside (including sills) and subframes will do a very good job indeed.

I don't really know anything about Dinitrol, however I do know that waxoil is very good indeed.

Yeah, that's another common area for rust. So clean up the area as much as poss then get some waxoil on there.
