Hi all.
Quick question, Ive got a genuine rover front end on my project mini and before I spray it Im thinking about running a bit a sealent in the scuttle gaps etc.
What type of sealent would I need?? Is it special automotive sealent or just normal B&Q general purpose water proof stuff (clear of course).
Thanks.
Paul.

You need seam sealer/ tiger seal.
Local paint or motor factors is your place to go.

why would you want to do that?.am i missing something.it might react to the paint and the paint might crack where the sealent is.
your better off just making sure the paint go's in all the gaps when painting to stop rust.

Seam sealer doesn't react with paint, you are thinking of silicone.
Whilst aesthetically the panel lines look a look better without any seam sealer in them,... they are water traps no matter how much paint you get down there,.. and if used well, you can get away with smoothing off a small bead of the seam sealer to stop these traps filling up and causing rust issues in the future.
The paint will only crack if you put to much on, or if the sealer can stretch too much, in which case the panels aren't secure enough anyway
Also, if using sealer on wing-scuttle edge,... only apply sealer from the top down,... this way water coming up from the inner arch can escape the way it came in

I think blue redtop was refering to to Paulys idea of using B&Q sealant, which is likely to be silicone and wont be good for paint.
Retros hit it on the head though
