It is black and sooty, maybe it is. i do hope so. come to think of it, it looks more like soot than oil. i normally notice it when its cold and choke on.You definately sure its oil? Sometimes if its running too rich it poos out nasty black carbon stuff that could look like oil, I know because my housemate went mad when I started up on full choke and covered her numberplate..

I put a newspaper on the ground after intial start up and reved the engine. It was black runny sooty type, and it dried pretty quick. I am hoping if it were oil, it would have been a bit greasier. I havent tried it after running it for a bit, just noticed it yesterday and its raining today. dont want to get it wet.

sounds good, i will try that. ThanksSounds like maybe you need to De-coke (scrape all the carbon deposits left from combustion off valve faces and surrounding metal) the head (or/and wang some valve/carb cleaner through with your next tank of fuel) and do some long journeys now and then to clear the engine through.

Fill it up and then give it a good wang down the motorway for a couple of junctions

Cheers, will it also make my 998 go faster?
