Hi guys can anyone help me i have an 89 F plate mini with a problem i think it may be down to fuelling. I sometimes have issues when starting it will just turn over without fireing, And other times she will start start but will then kangaroo for about 5 mins, then she will be ok then ten mins later she will kangaroo and start to die. The carb sounds like it has air going through it when this happens. It has a K&N Air filter on with a twin center exit exhaust. I have checked the mixture goin through the carb and that is all ok.
She had had new spark plugs points leads, Headgasket, Radiator, Thermostate,
So im running out of ideas what to go for next shall it be a fuel pump or a new su carb.
Also in the back on my petrol tank i have two wires coming from what are they for?
Thanks for any help

Don't assume this is a fueling issue until you have gone through setting the valves on a cold engine, then a complete ignition system setting and tune up. If your distributor still has points, these have a reputation for closing up over time which can produce the hard starting and stumbling you are reporting.
You said you checked the mixture. How?
You asked about the two wires on the fuel tank. They are for the fuel sending unit (to the fuel gauge). The black wire is an earth/ground. The green/black goes to the gauge.
