Hi there,
I have a mini cooper s 2005 and I am having problems with it. The car has been back to my Mini dealer and they have said its supposed to be like it and fobbed me off!! Heres the problem - when I start the car up there is a vibration/rattle noise from the centre of the car, you can hear from the inside but not the outside, when you put the clutch in the noise goes it seems to just be there on start up. The first time it went back they said they had got the gearbox out as a part needed replacing after getting it back the noise had gone but its back again. if it is supposed to be there why did they take the gearbox out before?? Also since getting it back there has been a leak from underneath that has stained our drive and made a mess, the leak seems to have stopped now which is strange but when I told them at BMW they said that when you have the aircon on it leaks from underneath and it has a grease in it? I have never heard this, I know the aircon drips but not grease - Is there anyone out there that would spend £13000 on a car that makes a mess of the drive - I dont think so!! If I had a £300 I would expect it. Can anyone give me any info/advice, the car will definately be going back again, I wouldnt recommend anyone buying a mini from where I bought mine, the aftercare is absolutely disgusting. Not that we have anything against mini one owners posting on this forum, but you'll find 99% if the membership are 'classic' mini owners, and the above symptoms are pretty much the norm for one of them..

But to answer your question, its the clutch release bearing that rattles, I read on mini2.com its a common annoyance..................

As for grease in the aircon discharge, think someones having a laugh!! Its only water that comes out of there!!!
