Update time.

The shell is now back home and work has commenced. I`ve got a new fuel line all clipped in underneath and to the tank pipe. I have now just got to run the brake line under the car and then the subframe can go on.

Subframe built up apart from the handbrake cable:

I put the light in just to see how it will look when I add shiny bits:

It's progress in the right direction Dave. :) Make sure you keep the receipts or even an Excel document - thats what I am doing and I intend to have the complete cost worked out by the end of it. Maybe something to publish if you are brave enough? Either that or keep it close to your chest.

I have only just taken the bonnet off mine... still trying to decipher the VIN number as the nut before me lost the V5 and painted over rust which has distorted the number rather badly. X)

That colour is really nice, and your garage looks pretty swish too

Thanks Graham, yeah when I'm bored one day when it's finished I will total everything up and organise it all. I`m going to do a folder with the pictures I've taken throughout the restoration.

That doesn`t sound good about your VIN number, hope you get it sorted.

Cheers, the garage is good but there is stuff everywhere >_<

Right it's update time again :D

Did not get anything done on christmas or boxing day (even though I was itching to get going) but had a really good day at it today.

First thing was the steering arm to go on:

Then after a lot of huffing and puffing and a bit of jiggling the rear subframe is on:

Need to do a bit of touching up with the hammerite now its on and clean the boots on the steering arm.

Cheers for looking

I was thinking the same :proud: last thing you want is more rust.
re: the vin - as I say, where there's a will there's a way. i'm sure i will incorporate it with part of the rebuild thread.

I bet it feels better having the frame back on the car? getting a bit more like a real car again :)

Yeah you could say that again, I even put a wheel back on just to see how its looks :whistling:

They are just scratches from where I had it on the ramps, right off with the football and get the paint brush out.

Thought I`d get the wiring out and try and sort it out, someone before me has cut lots and tried to put in an alarm system somehow. This is just the front bit >_<

Yeah its not good, I got the back bit in and threaded along the roof rail and down the A post. Also soldered some new connector bits on some of the bare wires. I also bolted the front shocker mounts onto the inner wings so not a bad day. Back to it tomorrow :-)

Had a good day today, moved the shell back a bit in the garage so we have more room at the front in order to sort then engine out and get it in. Thought I`d give the wiring a miss and started building the engine up:

I am really enjoying this at the moment and I don`t want to go back to work next week, hope to have the engine in the subframe and in the car by then though.

Thanks Bean :shy: :D

Been progressing slow this week due to being in work, have made good progress with the engine this weekend though. It`s now sitting in the subframe and the head is bolted on with the rocker shaft on as well. I`ve just placed the rocker cover on for now to see how it looks. The plan is to sort the brake lines out and a few other bits then get it in the car next weekend.

Thanks for looking.

Dave
