The engine now runs really well, no misfire and seems really nice and smooth using the single carb. I have got a new inlet manifold for the twin carbs on its way.

In other news the windscreen is in:

I tried the window wipers this morning to find that the wheel boxes are knackered >_< When I fitted it all I took them apart and regreased them and they seamed fine, they don`t auto park either so have got to order new wheel boxes and the auto park switch. Just when you think you are getting very near the end.

Cheers

Dave

Update time, we found the cause of the mainfold breaking, it was fouling on the exhaust >_< did not see it when we put the carbs on but when we tried the new inlet manifold it was clear to see. I`m thinking the whole 3 branch system is a really rubbish one as it is now causing another major headache. I ordered a new Y piece as the one we had was a home made job from the massive exhaust that was on it, gone to put it on just now and can not get the exhaust to fit, it seems like its going "up" into the tunnel and not straight, hopefully this picture will make it clearer:

Anyone have any ideas???

I got a door hung over the weekend, it needs lifting on the hinges and I also forgot to pit the window channel runner in when I built it but I`m going to have to drill the door to put the mirrors on so will have to strip the door card to do that so will hopefully be able to get the rubber in then.

I had to change the wiper wheel boxes as well as the park switch, done that and got the wipers on but they still seem a bit loose on the splines.

Starting to get annoyed with it now as I know I`m not far away at all but then something crops up and sets me back.

Cheers

Dave

Have you read my thread of recent? >_<

Don't worry about it mate, it's all progress, would have to come around at some point anyway so at least your getting through it.

It is looking very good though regardless mate, nice to see a door hanging on it anyways.

Cheers
Chris

Cheers Chris, yeah I have seen that you have been having a few issues as well, hope you get it all sorted soon mate. It is amazing hearing it run for the first time isn`t it?? :D

Well I`m hoping I`m going to have a good day from now on, off in the garage to crack on with it now and the new V5 arrived today as I have changed it form a 998 to a 1275, I can tax it now when its had an MOT.

I`ll hopefully have an update later on.

Cheers
Dave

Today did turn out to be a good day :D

I got the exhaust back on with the new Y piece and its no fouling anything now so shouldn`t rattle or make any funny noises like it did.

The drivers door now fits properly but I did have to take the glass back out as one of the runners was not on fully so the window was going up at an angle >_< I`m going to fit the door seal rubber tomorrow and sort the wing mirror out before I put the glass back in and door card on.

Cheers

Dave

A bit more progress today. I`ve got the off side door rubber on and all the headlining underneath it after I cut the headlining too short and didn`t lip it around where the rubber goes >_< live and learn hey.

I got some seat belts today but I`m wondering on how the inertia reels fit, do they go inside the rear bin?? Can tell its been so long since I stripped the thing.

I also put the hinges on the passenger side door so that can go on soon. I put the window channel rubber in it too, so much easier without the glass in.

Cheers Ben

Had a good weekend on the mini plus I`m off work tomorrow so will get more done fingers crossed.

The twin carbs are now back on with the new manifold and the engine runs really well

Posted Image

Both front seat belts are now in

Posted Image

Today I put the front number plate and the grille on, its really starting to look like a mini now :D

Posted Image

I also got the rear view mirror in

Posted Image

Tomorrows plan of action is to get the near side door on and rubber seal in, then look at sorting out the wing mirrors.

Thanks

Dave

Looking well Dave!

Have you got the brake and clutch plumbed in yet? Also what's the small puddle under the engine on the photo of your reg and grille?

You putting a badge on the bonnet or any spots at the front or just going for the clean look at the front?

Cheers
Chris

Cheers fellas.

Yeah brakes and clutch are all plumbed in and bled. The puddle is water coming from the water pump (I think), its strange because its not all the time and that`s the first time in a couple of weeks its happened, hoping it sorts itself out.

I`m going to leave the front as it is I think, no badge or anything, I`m going to have the Austin Mini script badge on the back (was on early cars I know but I really like it) and a welsh dragon and that`ll be it.

Cheers
Dave

Better than oil though and less expensive to top up haha!!!

Good choice on the no badge on the bonnet I reckon, really not a fan of mini bonnet badges myself. But I do think a set of spots would suit your mini to be honest, just subtle ones though, not big monstrosities.

 Good point, still want to find out where its coming from and why. Had a bit of leak from the heater the other week too but that has sorted itself out thankfully.

Yeah I`m not a huge fan of the bonnet badges either. I`m unsure on spot lights, some look good but some ruin a car, something I can look at in the future anyway.

Right its time to fit the passenger door.
