I have now fully welded the wheel arch in apart from the bracket behind the rear seat, that just needs bending back round and welding

Posted Image

I have also put a piece in for the boot floor and spot welded a new tank bracket to it

Posted Image

Hopefully I`ll get the quarter panel and outer sill on at the weekend if everything goes well.

Thanks for looking

Dave

3rd of June last year I last posted   I really need to get cracking with it but over the past year I`ve just lost interest. Its not far away from going to be painted now so hopefully I`ll pretty much have it ready in a couple of weeks, I`ve got one more week in work then I`m off for two, so fingers crossed.

Right then update time.

I`ve been doing a fair bit of work recently as I now know someone who is going to spray it for me. As far as panel work goes its just the rear valance and closing panel that need to go on, not looking forward to that at all as the closing panels don`t fit when I`ve tried it on the floor.

At the moment I`m just doing some tidying up, mainly in the engine bay. I will upload some photos when I take some tomorrow.

I`ve got a bit of a dilemma going on in my head at the moment, I`ve got some 13" deep dish mini lights but I`m debating going back down to 12". The thing is I have some sportspack arches and they are going look silly over 13" wheels right?
The other one is what effect will going down to 12`s have on the drive of the car in respect to final drive choice? I`m going to be running a 1293cc with a SW5 cam, I can`t remember what I`ve put in the box at the moment but I will check as I haven`t bolted the box to the block as yet.

Decisions decisions >_<

Looking good, i remember going looking at this mini in 2008, owner put me off!!! lol, only took me 2 years later to buy a mini, and ive paid for too much for it lol.

great progress, very similar to mine in terms of what needs welding and as ive never welded before, you have given me abit of a boost.

great work, keep it up

Cheers. I paid too much for this one too >_< It was a lad in his early 30`s who I got this off who said he had not had it long and had changed his mind about restoring it, I found out why when I got it home, oh well we live and learn.

I`ve had a look through your project and you`re doing really well with it, some really nice shiny bits, we`ve just got to stick at it.

No problem Louis. Colour wise I`m sticking with grey and black, it was steel grey (metallic I think) originally so I`m going to stick with that just not metallic.

Been back in the garage today and done some more sorting on the bulk head. Where the drivers side subframe mounting sits was in a sorry state with big crack so I cut that out and welded in a new piece and back drilled the holes through.

This was a while ago but here is the rear quarter panel welded in

Posted Image

This is my next job, I`m taking it that the wiper motor holder should bolt in here?? (Near side in the bulk head just behind subframe bolt) I think I`m just going to cut the rust out and patch it then drill a small hole and use a self taper when I come to fit it.

Posted Image

Also a new bracket arrived today as the original is a bit crusty, hopefully the metal behind is not too bad but we`ll see

Been busy today, I got the rear valance welded in and the got the closing panels to fit as best as they can, they just need a bit more welding and sealing but I`ll sort that out tomorrow.

I also sorted this bulk head bracket out the other day.

Getting close to it being sent off for prep and paint now :D

No updates really, I`ve been working in France for the past month.

Should be going to be sprayed in a couple of weeks hopefully. Won`t get chance to do anything this week but I`ll be cracking on with it next weekend, just need to do a bit of tidying up here and there.
