That doesn`t sound good Ben, how are you getting on with it?

Well today I hit a big milestone, the shell is at the garage where it is getting sprayed :D
It`s a friend of my dad who is doing it so I spent the day there with him sorting bits and bobs out.

Strapped down and ready to go:

Rolled her over on her side once we got there to tackle the floor pan:

Scrubbed up really well, only a few little bits needed touching up

I then seam sealed everything underneath and then it was sprayed with black stone chip, it will be sprayed the body colour over the top

Really getting somewhere with it now :D

Had another great day on the mini today, I helped by rubbing down the boot and bonnet while I left the professionals to the shell itself. Was great to see what goes on and how the car is prepared. Anyway as I left today she has her first coat of primer :D

Cheers fellas.

The floor was surprisingly solid once I got the wax oil off so no welding was needed.

Quick preview of the colour:

Ordered yukon grey and when it was sprayed underneath it was pretty much black. After some mixing we have a one off grey :D

The underneath should be done now and the main body is getting the primer flatted this week and sprayed next weekend.

While I have some space I`ve been sorting the rear subframe out, given it another coat of hammerite and cleaned up the mounting pins and greased them up and fitted new bushes. I got one rear radius arm sorted with new bearings and bush, what a pain they are to get out >_< getting there though, I`ll do the other one tomorrow and ream them then start building them up on the subframe. I`ll take some photos tomorrow too.

Cheers

Dave

Cheers mate, yeah there was a lot more welding than I thought there would be when I bought it, oh well its done now.

I`ve been keeping myself busy while the shell is away. I now have the radius arms with new pins and bushes fitted to the rear subframe. I have cleaned up and painted the hubs and went to put the new brake cylinders on tonight and they are different to one`s that came off and don`t fit >_<

Oh and I get sent this tonight :gimme: its taxi black not that you can tell from the shine on it.

If everything goes to plan I should have the shell back on Thursday :teehee:

It currently looks like this:

Black roof against the grey body, I`m really happy with it:

I'm looking at april time to have it on the road if it all goes to plan.
