Just Been To Rolling Road

Just needed to shout about this.
Been off to the rolling road today and am very pleased with the result
I rolled in with 38 hp and have left with a very tasty 50hp
This is off a 998 with a minispares stage one kit
and a morspeed modified head.
If it wasn't raining I would be off driving.
Oh and I highly recommend Peter Burgess in Derbyshire for a rolling road to use.
Thanks
Lloyd

I understand how rolling roads work, but how does the increase in power come about? I assume the increase comes from solving issues like mixture etc, but do they charge for this, or is it included in the rolling road cost?
Once Monty is back to health, he'll be off to a rolling road to get checked out - if this is what they'll do.
Cheers!

50bhp at wheels damn good for a 998! head must be working wonders!!
Thats what I was thinking especially at the wheels, What was the lb/ft of torque?

Can i ask what head you have, is it the stage 3 one (i was looking on the morspeed website yesterday). I'm looking at a Stage 1 kit and Stage 3 head on my 998 but unsure if i NEED anything else, have you modified the block internals (pistons, cam etc) or are they all standard parts? I'd be well happy with 60hp at the flywheel, well done mate!
Cheers,
Matt.

Hey OJMBrill! May I ask how much it cost?

The price was £50 plus vat so £58 and change
That included everything.
At one stage he found a problem with my carb and needed it removed so asked if I would do it so he didn't have to charge me for his time. Peter then cleaned up the jet adjuster ect. He also ground my AAU needle in the middle to make it do whatever it does better as he doesn't stock needles.
In all Peter sorted out my mixture, jetting, , timing and tick over.
Very knowledgeable block on A-series but deals mainly with MG's and MGB ect. Check out his website it tells you most of what you need.

My head came out of their bargin bucket section.
It appears they have another one
*998cc ST4 L/Free cylinder head by Morspeed (trade in) £300
look on this page
used bargin page morspeed
For a better look at my head have a look here there was a thread about it as I had questions to ask about it
Thread on ST4 head
As for other alterations there have been none in terms of performance parts apart from a 3 core radiator.
If it make a difference it in a 1989 City E with 96000 on the clock. The air filter I went for was the standard ring one but K&N and the exhauste was the twin box RC40. I do have an ultimate engine steady and poly engine and sub frame mounts on it. Which I guess have to help a little.
Hope this helps
Lloyd
Oh thanks also to the rest of you for the smiles I am still grinning ear to ear
Sorry racer pete I don't know"What was the lb/ft of torque?"

Off the top of your head, do you know if he'd deal with an SPI?

The previous owner had fitted a stage one kit and not set it up at all, so it needed doing!
I got a print out graph too. The whole thing took about 2 hours and cost a bit as a new needle needed buying but hey, it sits all day long at 70 on the motorway now and returns 45mpg, 200miles from 20l of fuel, can't complain!
