apprenticeship wages are abysmal to start with (9K p/a is awful i dont care what anybody says, you can earn more as a shelf stacker and you dont have to know anything to do that job), but they are a great way of breaking into an industry in which you have no experience, and upon completion the prospects make an apprenticeship very worthwhile. a friend of mine finishes his apprenticeship later this year and is guaranteed a 25K job with his company. thats nearly a 14k pay rise. or he could just as easily look for well paid employment elsewhere, qualified technicians are highly sought after right now. not bad if you ask me.
also you will have college on day release, so you wont even be at work all week! on top of that you will probably really enjoy it if its something you actually want to do. so i say go for it and dont worry about the money too much, with patience it will pay dividends.
ps. i mean no offense to the shelf stackers out there. i did that job for nearly four years so i merely draw on my own miserable experience

My first years wage wasn’t much to dream off but I’m getting about £20k a year now and that will almost double after I qualify in 12 months.
Beats going to uni any day!

Yeah started back in 2006 found it through an advert in the paper, if you want to try out for it the cut off date for this year is the end of this month I believe so you have to be quick. (By the way the £40k is with a bit of overtime

As for getting £40k a year to repair Land Rovers, where do I apply? That's gotta be a hell of a lot of overtime!!!
