Hi all. My little bro is thinking of getting one of these(after selling his 106) as he wont need to do as much driving from sept onwards...just wondering, anyone on here have one? got a pic of the engine bay?

what do you think of them?:P)

I think it will make a good little project for us while at uni to be honest.

peace
matt h

We have a Subaru 648 (i think its called?), which is similar to a Bedford Rascal!

However, it's one of only 2 in the world as it's been converted into a campervan, by Danbury :P

Oh, and the engine is inside the rear bumper! :dozing:

I wouldn't know what the 1.3 is like, lol - Ours has only got a 648cc engine, hehe :P

It's only done 26,000 miles, so runs as sweet as anything! But doesn't like going above 40mph - as it's got a sink, cooker and gas tank in the back as well, lol :dozing:

I'll get some photos up tomorrow! :)

the guy i used to work for had one

they are ok for local trips around town but i didn't like driving it on fast A roads etc

they are very narrow for their hight and get blown all over the place

another down size is the use a lot of fuel for their size around 25-30 mpg

would be for driving around stafford on his days off from uni and from stafford to telford when we come home. Any bigger trip would be in my mini.

don't do it

they are ~##~, do it properly get a transit :(

cheaper to run, rascals drink more fuel then a jag, and cross winds are a joke :P

but they're mid engined and rear wheel drive, you can drift them and wheelie them!

Saying that, next few Transit line-up's are looking good, except they'll be a bit more expensive then a Rascal.

I'm driving 8000 miles to Mongolia in one!
The engine bay is below the front seats, so you basically sit on the engine. The seats flip up to provide access.
We are welding hefty U bolts on each side of the van so that when we tip over we can get righted easily

LOL hello bean!!!

by the way i got a bedford rascal! im coming to bingley in it. as a surport vehicle for A5 Minis. haha

mr apples - i wanted a transit but when one of these was offered to me i took it as i always wanted one.
and yes you are right they do drink fuel that is why you dont go more than 60mph in it. i had to recon my carb too takes me back to the days i started mini'ing. haha

oh and yes.. 998 dave. rwd they are. great fun in the snow that no mini i own has ever give me so much fun.
my next project mini is going to be rwd for sure. i am thinking of a 1.3 rascal engine and drivechain. (eg prop and diff) as they are the same wheel pan and lengh. of just a r1 in the back :) needtime to choose.

i like the idea of a motorbike engine in the back tho. ;)
they put kawazaki engines in the rascals too. and they are rappid!! haha and very dangerous!
