Ok i am stumped.

I am trying to remove the headrests from pair of 1986 mini chelsea seats and can't see how i do it.

I have them at max height and have removed the 2 screws under the headrest but it just has the material pinning there and i don't really want to undo this.

I need to remove them as i want to put some special seat covers on them.

Any help appreciated. Thanks

There is a spring operated catch mechanism on the side of the chrome runner. Undo the seat cover and pull it up, you'll see it then, just put some pressure on it and pull the headrest, it'll pop out no problem

:)

Hi thanks for the reply, i had a look tonight and can't see it, mine have a silver ring thing round the ring which is on the upholstery i have poked a screw driver down there but it did not seem to release any thing, i don't want to damage the cloth. Is there any pictures as to exactly where the spring machanism is?

Thanks again Rob

Had to do this today to fit new seat covers.,...

1. Unclip the the back of the back rest seat cover.
2. Insert arm up into the seat with a flat blade screwdriver in your hand, you'll feel the headrest stalk.
3. Have a feel around the base of the headrest stalk, you'll feel a little pointy bit.
4. Push the flatblade against this pointy bit whilst pulling the head rest up... and Tada, done.

Takes a few goes and is bloody annoying,.. but it works. took me 15 mins.

Cheers Retro_10s managed to get time to do this this afternon!

And yes it was fiddly, took me about the same time, you think you have the pointy thing nicely pushed it but the screw driver slips off a bit...

Thank you so much for the advice! >_<
