Well I had a go at refurbing my heater and personally, I do not think it turned out to bad.

In brief, I stripped it down and then scrapped all the paint off with some paint stripper. With I may add wasn’t easy as it is more of a powder coat than actual paint. I took so long i got very annoyed with it

For those of you who have never seen the inside of one here we have the motor and the heater matrix. I hooked the motor up to an old battery to make sure it worked and gave the matrix a thorough flushing out.

Posted Image Posted Image

Then I sandblasted each piece to make sure every last scrap of paint was off and the surface was good.

Immediately after sandblasting, I primed it.

Then a few hours later, I sprayed it with a can from hellfrauds.
Just to maintain some loyalty after my clubby defected to the German side the colour i have sprayed it is Rover Tahiti Blue Pearlescent

On reassembling i sealed the outer seams with silicon sealant to try and make it airtight so that it didn’t blow out of every tiny hole and only out of where it was supposed to.

Also added some new foam to the back of the panel where I had removed it during the strip down, and trimmed the foam at the sides to aid with airflow to the screen vents/side exit panels.

Assembled it all with some brand new shiney screws and heh presto it all looks very smart. Only the very front face plate to add now and the sticker then its ready to go in Delilah with some nice blue silicon hoses to match!!
