My mum and sister are thinking of buying a mini convertable. They have found the one they want but they are struggling to get insurance for it. They have not bought the car yet but everytime they say it is a soft top to the insurance company they say they will not insure it.

So does anyone know an insurance company that will??

all sorted with performance direct but could only insure mum as wouldn't insure anyone under 25 on the policy. and others wouldn't insure it because the gut done the conversion himself, well he didn't a garage did but because it was a factory standard one they didn't know how safe it was

HIC Type into google.

Have to be over 19 if I rmeber correctly, insurance premium shouldnt go up compaired to a standard mini with them last time i insured a car wit hthem the convertable was the same as the sallon i had.

Hope that helps

Kind regards

Brad

Ohh and you can have it on a classic policy if you are prepared to lower the mialage your going to be traveling aroung 3,000-6,000 perhaps.

Correct, i work for HIC and you do have be to 19, Also a son or daughter cannot go on there parents policy until they are 25! ( But we do have some brilliant deals for younguns in there own name!)

As far as convertibles go we have no problem insuring them at all, the only difference is that your excess migt be slightly higher due to a higher theft risk but other than that there is not a set premium increase for a convertible.

P.S

Classic policies have to be limited to 7500k miles, and generally need to be a 2nd car being used in the classic way, so not an everyday car.

You can still have a classic policy if it is your name car but there are hefty loads for this!

I have my cab insured with HIC... and that's a keith's convertible....

But like roofless I'm an old fart so only cost beans... and it's about number 3 or 4 down the pecking list, and not even on the road and hasn't been for I don't know how many years...

Thats correct, Adrian Flux are our (HIC/Miniworld) partner company - you can get upto a 10% discount for being a member of any motoring owners club.. and if you set the policy up with us or adrian flux and your club is affiliated with us ( have to have set up a contract with us for this) then we will pay some commision to your club for recommending us to you!

some of the clubs seem to suggest their club is the only way to get discount. and thats cool about the commision. would help alot of local clubs organise things
