sorry i have a couple of questions if i may....

1, last night i was attempting to fit my megajolt with supermottolee and came to a stopping point when trying to mount the coil. basically how did you guys mount yours just to give me some ideas and easy solutions?

2, when taking off the positive (+) off the fusebox to the mega jolt does it have to be a constant live feed or just one thats live when you turn the key

3, why after paying alot of money for a bracket does it rub? (think i'll ask jordie abotu the roller bearig idea)

4, i'd like to wire up my smiths tach meter and ideally have it running from the megajolt. would anyone be able to assit me in what wires should go where and from the tach out on the megajolt? (pics below)

1. I just put some foam under the coilpack (stop it getting bashed about), then stuck 4 long, thin bolts through the four little holes in each corner and mounted it on the bulkhead next to the wiper motor.

2. Matt used a fused live feed straight from the solenoid, I run it off a constant live feed off the fusebox. I think as long as the MJ is getting 12V when your cranking then it should be fine.

3. Yea, I was rather disappointed by this too. I paid the extra for the KAD kit in the hope that it wouldn't rub, but no such luck. to be honest it shouldn't be that had to get enough clearance!!

4. Not sure, I had a different loom to you (is yours Megajolt Lite Jr?), I think mine was either orange or blue, not much help, sorry!

thanks jammy

1, i mounted my edis there ish, well more carb side but i'll have a look and see if i can sneak the sucker in there :withstupid:

4, sorry i think i may have confused you but the small loom is off the tach, has more wires than i was expecting to be honest :dontgetit: i know the megajolt has a tach out (like the 6th pin) but i have no diagrams at all for the wiring on the gauge or if it will work.

thanks :dontgetit:

It would be best to feed the Megajolt off an ignition dependent feed, just like the old ignition (without ballast resistor).

The coil will be fine mounted similarly to your old one. Somewhere where it can dissipate heat but keep reasonably dry would be ideal. (Jammy, I think you'd be better with some airflow than that foam cushioning, the coil has no moving parts 'n is pretty solid).

Have a look on the AutoSportLabs site for info on rev counters. There are loads of options, both the edis & MJ have tacho drivers and you can adapt a feed off the coilpack if needs be.

Can't help on the Tacho wiring have you looked for docs online if it's an aftermarket one?

hi ethel

i did look at the autolabs and think mine was a pulse soemthign one and beleive it should work with the megajolt i guess i'll have to try and see really.

the only diagram i've manage to find is the one below which doesn't appear to be any good really, unless i'm being stupid o.O (i just dont know what wires go to what)

Does that tacho have a shift light? Red, black usually postive, negative. I'd say green is the coil feed, but thats just a guess.

Is it aftermarket? Have a look for a model number to google.
If it's been liberated from another car, maybe a Haynes wiring diagram?

why do wiring diagrams seem so hard to get hold off. do smiths not have an online website with help and manuals etc?
