I am in the process of restoring a 1984 mini and i dont really know the cost of a full respray, i am prepared to do a lot of the work myself to lower labour charges. Does anyone know any good bodyshops in the north west as well, around the manchester area would help!

Hope someone can help!

When I asked this question I was told that If I took my mini in as it is, It would cost in the range of £1000 Upwards.

I guess if you totally striped the car down, Prep'd it all, you would probably get it done for around £500.

Not sure of any decent car spray shops up there as I live in kent! :cheese:

We have one of the best spray shops around! Altered Image Coachworks, in Strood, owned by one Peter Vickers!! Although I wouldn't make this you first port of call if you are after something cheap!!

You get what you pay for in the long term. Are you after a quick job or a custom job? Is it for a Show car or just because you have new panels on?

Start at £500 for same colour (ish) respray and work your way up to £5000 for a show winning spray job.

I paid £300 for the spray job on the Mosquito. Its not perfect, its scruffy in some places but........its good for £300.

I paid £300 just for a roof on 1 Mini but the finish was so much better.

Both painted at the same place. If you go in after a cheap spray job then a cheap spray job is what you get. If you go in and ask for a bare metal spray job then that is what you get.

Just ask around.

So anything from £500 to £5000.

i would say thats abit steep, i would say about 600-800 depending on how good they are. as its a small car and doesnt need much paint to cover it  i would get them to laquer it to.

All depends what paint is used depends on whether lacquer is needed. obviosly it is required on a metalliic paint to stop the metal flakes discolouring and rusting and if a car is painted in 2k paint some 2k paint will have lacquer in (solid) and some will not (base)
