rite, ere goes

i race minis, some people who watch me may say i crash them, but thats another story, however, i keep breaking engine mounts, the rubber ones split/tear/rip after any kind of solid impact, ive got my engine braced with the bottom and 2 top mounts, so i dont think theres excessive force on the side ones, however, i dont want to replace them with solid ones, because im thinking, solid ones will just bend the subframe? anyones point listened to!!!!

i wouldnt use solid mounts, use solid for subframe to body, then use poly bushes in the 3 engine steadies and rubber on the engine to subframe mounts

Mines not a race mini so probably won't help. but i've got solids and have been recommended to change them. including subframe to body. If you have solid mounts to body and your hit it pushes onto the floor pans. one of mine is cracked from my last accident and needs a new plate welded onto it.

Also the solid mounts causes a lot of vibration through the body and will make the steering column shake when idling.

but you do need solid mounts subframe to body if its atall performance orientated. Or the cars steering will be awful

the mounts from subframe 2 mini are solid, they aint the problem,(i dont have a floor pan,its solid 1/4inch plate thats bolted down 2 the steelwork under it ) its the 2 that connect engine 2 subframe that are causing me a headache, because if theres enough force 2 split the rubbers, then surely its going to bend my subframe, i could strengthen the subframe by plating, welding, and drilling, then using solid mounts......continue debate please!

I used the standard rubber ones when I used to race, and don't get me wrong I had a few crashes but they where fine afterwards. Personally I would use the Polyflex ones if they keep breaking.

Roo you need solid mounts for the subframe as you have a flip front...

If you didn't the whole front of the car would wander about and Mr MOT would not allow it...

Solid engine mount IMO, are just a complete no no...
