Hi
On my 1960 Mini, I need to remove the headlining as part of the restoration.

It is the original lining, and is a two piece one, with the front bit overlapping the rear piece.

I hav e removed the rear view mirror, and sunvisors. There is no interior lamp on this one.

How is this removed without damaging it? I have tried but don't want to continue if it will get damaged.

Thanks
John

I'd imagine you'll struggle to remove it without damaging it, I've never removed the two piece type, but the later type is glued around the edges, and held up in the centre by rods. Try warming the edges with a hot air gun or hairdryer, and it should start to peel away. Don't get it too hot or it could stretch of tear.

the mk1/2 is not glue onto the cant rails, it is 2 frames were the lining is fixed onto the frames.
to remove ease the sides of the front section in a little bit then push forward a touch because the rear section is clipped into it, then pull the back of the front section down and back then it will come out then pull the rear section forward and down.
hope that all makes sence. its is easy tp remove, you can rebend the frame back into shape as its very soft metal shape.

Hi
Thanks, when you say ease the sides of the front section in, do you mean the sides of the rear edge in toward the centre of the car?

I just don't want to stretch the material in any way as it is original 1960 material.

Thanks

the sides above each door at the back next to the rear section of headlining. this is to allow it to drop down.
