Hey, its me again with another silly problem.....

My indicators are working but they are not flashing. I dont know whether it has anything to do with it, but ever since I bought the car, they have been flashing double speed, but Ive never owned a mini before so I just thought thats what they did :dontgetit: I havn't checked the hazards yet though, but they are seperate arent they?

Any help would be great but photos would be even better for a little girly such as myself who hasnt got a clue

It could be the flasher unit is duff, The indicator one is normally located inside the car on the drivers side, look in the dash or round the steering column...for a smallish silver thing with 2 wires coming out..

Looks like this

Hazards & Indicators both have seperate units, one in the engine bay which will be the hazards and one in the cab of the mini which will be the indicators.

I can see Irostoke is on the case so I'll let him do the rest of the talking .

Nope unfortunatly not. And ive tryed the shaking test before as well and had one that rattled and one that didnt but they both worked fine ;)

They are not that expensive so if you get one and thats not the problem then at least you have a spare.

You didnt mention what your hazards do. Are they working ok?

Stick your hazards on so you can check all the bulbs are flashing with equal brightness. If they are, then it probably is the flasher unit or the contacts on it. It's easier to replace it rather than try and test it.

while you're there buy two, as the halfords ones are notorious for failing....

I've had one fail in less than 2 hours.

Converted to an electronic flasher, but now that's starting to play up, as everyone knows in my club when following me....

I have checked the hazards and they are working however now the indicators have started flashing again randomly when they feel like it, and every now and again they are just on constantly. would it be just a dodgy flasher unit. I tried to look for it but couldnt find it :( maybe im just being blind

I find the cause of this problem is usually rusty front indicators causing a bad earth connection - if you take the unit and clean it up it usually all works fine again - for some reason it doesnt seem to stop the hazards flashing, only the indicators!?

It will be behind your dash usually located behind the speedo unit. Its usually circular but i have seen some rectangular ones to. Your just gonna have to get down by your pedals with a torch looking up and have a root around. Also in the interest of safety im going to suggest you disconnect your battery first before you start rumaging around amounst all the wires.
:(

The only other explantion is that someone had butchered your wiring in the past and has moved it to some completely different location :errr:
