What Year Does Your Mini Have To Be To Qualify For Classic Car Insurance?

I heard that any car registered in 1992 or before can qualify for classic car insurance, not 100% sure on that though ;)

I think you'll find it's pre 1972

so a 1997 mpi could be deemed classic?

Yes with Heritage I believe they only deal with cars 10 years or older. other companies will differ. I used Footman James as mine is a year 2000.

Yes def 10 years on above.

Think it will have to be a lot older to be considered a classic by others.

It really all depends on the insurance company in question. Some won't put certain common makes/models on a classic policy, however I've had a '92 For Escort worth £130 on a classic policy before! Its generally either 10 years or 15, but as I say, it really does vary. Some companies require you to be 19/21/25 to have a classic policy too.

Think 15 for mine, also the AA advertise classic car policies for > 15 year old

I think a better way of looking at it is.. .

it's no different to a normal policy where it's on limited mileage, and is not the primary use car, so second or third vehicle.

mine's been on a future classic policy since new (1990)
