Hi

This is the one that was on ebay isn't it as a couple of weeks ago?
if you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it.
Ive just bought one (hard top) picking up tomorrow

Yes it was, I paid mroe then I should have done, but less then I would have done! If that makes sense.

Hi

Got my hornet now picked it up last sunday from Essex!!!!! I live in Somerset it took me and my mate 6.5 hrs to get there and 5 hrs back arrived at 0400 monday morning. bought mine on Ebay paid £500 LOOKS sound.

I got mine from Essex too, maybe they're breeding them there?
Mine looked a lot better then it is, but then the guy told me this, and was ever so helpful, so no complaints there.

Pics will be up tomorrow, I hope.

I've been offered an almost complete Hornet Saloon as well, for £200, so maybe another addition to the stable soon? Best get the Mayfair's finished to keep my project count down, the blue one only needs numberplates and one exhaust clamp (the one to hold it to the rear hanger), then MOT time.

Update Pictures:

Bonnet and many other bits removed, I did continue after this and got more out of the engine bay:
Posted Image

Interior out, I have got the doors bare now, and windscreen out, and tidied some tools away!
Posted Image

Bootlid off and rear lights out, needs a little straightening...
Posted Image

And now to the good bits, the slight corrosion in one wing:
Posted Image

And the filler used to repair a dent in the other:
Posted Image

(I hit it with a hammer)...

Sooo, wish me luck!

Oh, the blue Mayfair just needs it's rear numberplate and grill ends fitting now, then it will be MOT time, getting serious this!
Posted Image

(The L-Plate is there as I had to stick it somewhere, just ignore it, and mavel at the indifferent pony instead...)

Bit more on the Hornet in between working on the other two, had some time, so decided to lift the motor out...

Posted Image

I've also removed the hood, windscreen, arches, and a few other bits, still got to strip the doors and rremove bumpers and remaining grilles, wiring loom.

Posted Image

The old engine, (think it's the first time it's been out in 40 years, judging by the muck on it.

Posted Image

And then new and old engines together.

Posted Image

MG Metro engine on the left, 998 Wolseley engine on the right.

I'm going to have to weld in a plate for the gearbox steady to mount forward to the subframe, anyone know if you can get the piece of metal easily, or should I stop being lazy and just make one and weld it in? I'll be taking measurements from Molly's subframe while the engine's out I guess...

More next week...

Had to make the Hornet movable again so I got a pallet and put castors on it, then put this under the Hornet...

Posted Image

Bonus of this is I can get to all the rotten bodywork and move it around even straight sideways, and rotate on the spot.

I'm also going to remove all the suspension and brake assemblies to refurbish and rebuild seperate from the body.

Thanks, it's getting to look like more and more work everytime I take something off, still I will do it all properly as I don't plan to ever sell it...

Only picking up a few bits this weekend, including a donor wreck for this and the other two mini's...

I'm really liking this project! Never seen one of these before either, can't wait to see it all done.
I think it'd look nice in black!

I can't take credit for the writing, but glad people saw it...

Thanks, going with the white with dark red interior and roof.

No, I think it's a Keith'c convertibles jobbie, the Heinz ones have full side window frames and no beam accross the roof, however I think that makes it even rarer, if less desirable?

Wonderful news.

A Welsh individual called Emyr Phillips contacted minimag about the Hornet and may have more information on these conversions, all very exciting.

I've also got all my bits ready to send to the DVLA to request info on previous owners to try to find out as much as I can about the car, when it was converted, and by who.
