Has anyones seen the Becks Vier ad on the telly box?

It just came on and made me wonder.

It goes...

"The city that said no to sleep" and it shows a pic/clipette of new york.

"The skirt that said no to knee high" and it shows a pic/clipette of a woman in a really short skirt.

"The car that said no to big" and it shows a pic/clipette of..............

A BEETLE!!

Nothing against beetles but surely it should be a mini in there? Hmmm.

Suppose it might be because they already have the mini skirt in there. Oh i don't know. Thoughts...?

I thought that.

AFAIK, unlike the mini, the Bettle was never designed to be small, just economical (i.e. a car for the masses)

Same here!

I pressume that it was because it was all German in the advert so a mini would have been a little out of place, but then they could have used a messeesseschmiitt bubbly thingy [No, I have no idea how to speel it].

:( I think you'll find the Mini Skirt was invented by our own Mary Quant.... hence why Austin/Rover asked her to 'Design' a Mini car :D Thus the Designer was born.

And by the way, it's Messerschmitt :errr:

'Flappers' were '20s & '30s girls. Short skirts (not to the same level as a mini skirt though!), bobbed hair, love of gin and jazz music and generalised disdain for social etiquette of the era. Chicago, the musical/film, is classically set in the flapper era. Lots of tassles and hats involved.

Quant was the first to take the skirt "tomorrow's washing" short and coin the term Mini Skirt.
