Hi all,

Have just done my first oil change, I bought the car in october 07, should have done it a bit earlier i know!

Got the plug out ok (previous owner had to helicoil it when he changed the oil before he sold it), but the plug is covered in filings! Is this something to be worried about? - also the washer isnt copper (i dont think)

and the long thin bit im pretty sure is just PTFE Tape.

Nah, that's just from a few grinding gear shifts! "If you can't find it...grind it >_<"

Thats fine, had far worse on El Odio before. Only bad when you start finding chucks of gear on it.

There's a plaggy washer available that seals with less torque than a copper one - looks like you've got that.

Don't forget the old filter will still be full of oil too. Not really a problem though as long as the engine's cold and you're careful.

Suggest you use a new copper washer too. Just don't rely on Halfrauds to be stocking them any more.

Good luck!
