Having been in Gothenburg driving 60-tonne twin-trailer trucks round Volvo Trucks' test track Sun-Tues, went to work at lunch today to fill up with fuel...

...go to pay, and card declined. Try again, declined again. Go out to check cash machine - ditto. Grrr. So having felt like a twonk and gotten my manager to pay for my fuel, assumed one of two things:

- Either I'd mis-judged bank transfer times, and £400 for Leeds tickets had come out too early, or
- They'd put my account on hold because I'd spent money in Sweden/Leicester/Birmingham in 1 day.

Got home, checked online banking - got plenty of dosh in the account. Rang them up........ Apparently they'd sent me a new card (even though my current one is 3 months old) with new security wotsits a month ago, so old one was now invalid.
And my new card is at home.
In Surrey.
And I'm in Leicester.
And I have 66p on me.
And the old folks are on holiday.
And even if I got a neighbour to pop in and post it, it would be Fri/Sat until I got it.

Sooooo off to leafy Surrey I am now, and then back again as I've got work tomorrow. Grrrr. Last thing I want to be doing.

Ah well, see you in the early hours!

PS- Pics of my weekend... only managed to swing £65 of booze through expenses!

I'm really really trying to feel sorry for you.

Still trying.

Nope, just can't summon up any sympathy at all. Sorry.

Niiice TV ;)

About the card thing. You should get angry with them and ask them what the hell they are going to do about it and explain your situation. My brother's bank had a problem with their 'system' and this meant he couldnt get money out of his card account (this is where he got paid to etc). He went to get petrol one day and couldnt pay by card LUCKILY he had some cash on him so was able to pay for it with that. He rang his bank and they apologised but said there was nothing they could do. He then said that they have to do something about it other wise he will not have any money. As compensation he got about £100 a day put into his bank account for everyday that the system was broken. It was broken for several months, then it un-froze and he had the money waiting inside for him. Then it happened again, for MONTHS. He managed to get a LOT of money!! I was tempted to switch banks

Well at the time I wasn't to know that my card had been voided, so ... nobody's to blame I suppose.

Just got back.... cruised up the M1, apart from sodding traffic round by Luton roadworks. Bed for me! Up at half 6 for work :D
