hiya

was told that adrian flux is a good place to get my mini insured and they dont make you pay extra for roll cage etc like other companys

but i have had a quote first it was 1300 then when i told them about alloys and roll cage they put it up to 1800 ??

i am only 17 so i think they are both good quotes on my own insurance but i was told they dont make you pay more for roll cage
but they have ????

anyone no anywhere else to try for a quote which will be cheaper ???

cheers

you joined the mini's owners club?

its because you 17, and as soon as the words "modified" appear anywhere its $$$

mines with adrian flux, every mod declared is £700

I am with them and personally I found that Adrian flux only become cheap when you hit 25. I have used them for a few years now and they always seem to be the cheapest year in year out

i've just got my insurance through Arian flux and they were very helpfull £340 fully comp with everything decleared, big bore engine etc etc, but that is garaged in a low risk crime area plus i'm 23. it depends a lot on your age plus the area you live in. but i would have thought thats alot of money.

The short answer is I've used A Flux (who are brokers, not an insurance firm) for 6 years and they've always done the business, and when I bashed Huey's front end in 2005 they paid up for the repairs although I had a battle with communication. Just renewed for £253 fully comp, which is about £20 less than last year. Bear in mind that I'm an OAP!

I think everyone should have an agreed value clause and mine stays at £4,000.

OK you can stop reading now but I just want to add...

1) I'm wondering if any alarm bells will ring when they see I've changed from inertia reel belts to harness :P

2) Until this year they insured me with NIG Skandia, but now it's Trinity Lane, which is registered in Malta :P And on the bottom of the Terms of Business form (the small print) it says Trinity Lane is owned by a partner in A Flux. So if I were still a news hack I would be digging around for offshore tax dodges and whose brother-in-law is running what. But I'm not, so I won't. I'll just take the insurance and be grateful ;)

Personally i think that quote is quite cheep considering your 17, with a 1300 engine. When i wanted a quote from them, i was 18, wanted to insure a 998engine and they wanted something like £1500. The cheapest would have been footman-james at £900 fully comp with all the extras included, but you dont get no claims and cant pay monthly.

Have you had a quote from quinn? My mate was paying roughly the same amount as me in my 998 mini, he had a 1.6 meagane coupe. All the quotes said are fully comp in my name, not an added driver.

I'm with Adrian flux, 17 and paying £1450 for a 1.9 diesel.

Your quote doesn't seem too bad but it does seem quite a jump for a few modifications. A lot of people had their quotes go down :P Thing is they have you over a barrel as I'll doubt you'll get a quote elsewhere even close to that, I never could with AF. ;)

Quote "1) I'm wondering if any alarm bells will ring when they see I've changed from inertia reel belts to harness"

i told them that i've got 4 point harnesses and bucket seats and it didn't seem to make any difference.

at 17 their insurance quote for me was huge. and thats on a 998 but i mentioned the word alloy and they ran away. saying that most companies wouldnt insure me at all so i considered myself lucky to get insurance for £1500 the night before i went to pick the car up.

at 18 with 1 years NCB i got an online quote that was still quite high but with the TMF+ discount it was just about cheaper than anywhere else so i called them up and there 'actual' quote was £200 dearer than the online one ;) luckily i then managed to get a quote on confused.com, who i usually find C**p, for £988 so i got that.

so at the moment ive found flux to be very very expensive but as soon as i can change to them for insurance i will, as they do seem to get much cheaper as you get older. my dads with them on his TR7 and he pays a very cheap price but then thats classic insurance, and in the T&C its only allowed to be on the road for half the year and he's 50 odd. so slightly different to an 18 year old who uses it as a daily drive all year round.

if its the same for you id say your best bet is probably to use loads of searches and call up the 'main' places, not just classic ones as you wont be able to get classic policy anyway. i tried footman james, quinn and NFU but they wont insure you on your own policy under the age of 21/25 so useless to me.

I think that you will find HIC and Adrian Flux are the same company. I was told by Adrian Flux that they 'own' HIC.

Adrian flux have just annoyed me actually.

Phoned them up wanting to add Hanna to my SPI policy. After giving all the details over and being asked if she was between 21 and 70 (I am almost 28, I should hope shes between 21 and 70! lol)

Anyway after saying yes they proceed with asking more questions. Then they tell me she cant be added to my policy because shes not over 25. So why the hell did they bother asking if she was between 21 and 70 then cont with asking everything else?!

So they then tell me that It is possible to add her, but I would have to canx my current policy and start a new one. SO they transfer me to new bookings and proceed to ask me all the questions again. After a while they come back with the quote. Hanna already has her own 1275 mini (Freddie) and at a very reasonable insurance price. they wanted £500 more with her on! Im pretty sure she doesnt pay £500 for her own policy!! On top of that they wanted £30 for the hassle of having to canx and renew the policy! You know where they can go! Makes me laugh, charging extra for gettign more moeny?!! I work as a sales person for an airline, and if I manage to increase a clients contract to include other destinations I wouldnt dream of charging them for re doing their contract! What a bunch of money grabbers! They want more money for the privlage of being given a bigger sale?!!

Then they say that they have a sister company that deals with cases like this who may be abled to offer something better, so im transfered and the details are given again. only to be told that actually they dont deal with anyone under 25. so why the hell did they transfer me?!

anyway an hour and a half later im giving up with just wanting to do the simple job of adding Hanna to my policy. It would have been nice to be abled to choose Freddie or the SPI for shows and both of us be abeled to drive but I guess insurance companies just dont want to make things simple for people and perhaps get a kick out of making life so difficult for what should surely be a simple task?!

Grrr! I hate Insurance companies!!! Really hate talking to them dealing with them and thinking about them.

That's what I meant by communication difficulties. A Flux aren't alone. Also, many companies these days charge for the slightest variation in any kind of deal -- mortgage, insurance, they all have their rake-off. ;)
