we sent the type r back to have some work done (at there expence)

clutch (bite's real close to the floor)

steering (bit stiff did'nt self center)

wheel bearings (drone from rear wheels)

seat (did.nt tilt to get in the back)

head light ajuster (just did,nt work)

bonet stay (rested on the live terminal of the battery (wrong battery))

bonet was pinky not red (cut and polish or respray)

they agreed to do all the work (as they should) took the car in to see what was needed 2 weeks ago!

then pick it up again monday (just gone)

phoned up today to see if it's ready and guess what

waiting for parts :P they had over 2 weeks to get every thing ready BMW dealers *rubbish*

they lent us a 116i brand new (well 2000mile on the clock) horrible to drive

really been put off BMW's both cars and dealers

but they said they will compensate us for the delays what should we ask for

was thinking i could get them to do or pay for the next sevice as its the big 75000 mile cam belt one

what do you lot think we should ask for???????????

If they're that much of a bunch of morons, take the money and run! get a better garage to do the belt.

Can I ask why you've taken a Honda to a BMW garage? Just seems a bit odd to me.

was bought from lyster's BMW in kings lynn . All this stuff should have been picked up on there supposed quality check's for used cars. They had to send it to honda for some of the work but doing some them self will see what it's like when we get it back

Which seat doesn't tilt iirc from when my boyfriend had his type r you could only use the passenger side to get into the back. Of course ignore this if it is the passenger seat that doesn't tilt :)

it is the passenger side but the leaver half way up the back is jammed so the seat wont tilt forward to get in the back
you can use the bottom one but that moves the seat forward aswell but does not return to the same setting so you have to reajust it every time

Is it a civic type-r? If it is then it doesn't have a cambelt it is a chain so the 75000 mile service will just be a normal service.

we had a good look before we bought it and pointed these out
but we had a weekend away booked and had just sold our other car
so needed the car to go away
so we agread to take it for the weekend and bring it back for the work to be done
they took it back to see what parts to order took them 4 days to do that??
we then got it back again while the parts were ordered?????????????????????????
then they took it back again told us 4 days to get it sorted
8 days now and they never ordered the parts so its just sat on there ramps
in 23 days she's had the car 8 days

got a bit of a result from the the garage service manager this afternoon

he said rachel (Mrs Scrog) was to polite in her complaint to BMW UK and should have kick'd up more of a stink, they have told him not return the car till HE is happy with the work done even stuff not on the list

one man sacked (not purely cause of mrs scrog)
but not doing his job properly

so it,s had a full inspection

and

new clutch
new bearings disc's and pads all round
new steering rack :(
respray on bonet and boot
No idea what all that would cost if we had to pay  but we dont so
seat to be sorted
they wiil buy a set of Type r mats from honda
and any other things he can find no mater how small (nice bloke dan at BMW but think he is after the boss's job there LOL)
also when all the work is complet and Mrs Scrog is happy they will work out a compensation package (what ever that is) will wait and see
should feel like a totaly new car when it come home

new update they have ordered 2 new headlight units
and new upper mounts for the steering rack (not to sure what they are)

you can use the bottom one but that moves the seat forward aswell but does not return to the same setting so you have to reajust it every time

just to let you know the back rest of the seat will always return to the up right position when you pull the seat forward. its how they are. i hated mine for doing it.

Good news on every thing your getting free though! i miss the v-tec!
