I am looking for a stronger parcel shelf and was wondering would the carbon fibre parcel shelfs be considerably stronger than the standard ones?

I wouldent think CF would be stronger than the standard ones, If anything it would be worse as they are thinner. A FibreGlass one would be better. Are you having speakers in the parcel shelf to?

Na to be honest I may sound like a grandad but big ICE doesn't appeal to me :proud: . What it was I was after was knowing the strenght of one to be able to fit the inertia seat belts to.

I'd stick to steel for mounting seat belts - and use the mahoosive load spreading thick washers also.

isn't there an issue with replacing structural steelwork with CF - cant be within 10cm of a welded join or something?

Yeah thats what I was thinking it is pretty thin unless I created some monstrosity out of wood FG and the metal that is currently residing there :D

The parcel shelf is not suitable for mounting seatbelts without enormous reinforcement. Have a look in the boot of a Mini Cabriolet to see what's needed. No a carbon panel won't be strong enough, and neither will MDF and GRP.
