It appears my indicators do not self cancel. I've not driven a mini before so wouldn't know if they did it out of factory or not for the year of mine (1984). Does anyone know if it will fail and MOT on this?

Nah it wont fail an MOT like that, the majority of aftermarket wheels wont cancel unless they have the pin fitted to the underside of the steering wheel, which catches on the canceling nylon thingy lol thats the technical term.

Lol sounds like many of my technical terms!

On that note though i fitted my Mountney 10 inch steering wheel today and im thinking of attaching two rod thingeys to the boss so that it starts self cancelling again!

Theres a hole on the underside of the boss, a roll pin goes in there to self cancel the indicators, I dont think mine came with a roll pin aswell.

Paul.

Nah the standard boss that you attach a Mountney boss just has a flat bottom so doesnt lock into the Nylon collar so im going to attach two rods to the bottom of the boss to lock into the collar and therefore make it self cancel again.

I will have a look at this tonight and post some pictures for you! :D

Did the same to mine. Just drilled and tapped the two holes in the bottom of the boss and fitted two long bolts with locknuts and works a treat !!! :D

My aftermarket one had the holes for the pins, but no pins. I just put two short screws in the holes with a little silicone leave it a few hours to set, job done.
