If Minispares don't have one, there's a fair chance you'll get one in any scrappers as they are common on anything remotely Roverish of a similar age, also worth asking a motor factors or Lucas centre.

All the electrical people I deal with at work seem to think its either discontinued or its austin-rover only part but with rover dealers in short supply im having a hard time

Won't cure your problem though. This relay has nothing to do with the main beam circuit at all and very little to do with the normal dipped beam. Check the headlamp earth bullets.

Hi Dan, I've checked them all and had a mate who's an auto electrician and he's been through it could only narrow it down to that. Is there anything other than the earths I should be looking for?

true,
try and earth the headlamps at the actual lights, see if they work??? or try and bridge the connections were the relay goes. my hazards went dodgy and i bridged them to see if the relay was to fault. and it was.. hope this helps

I think I have the same problem - trying to diagnose if DimDip relay is the culpret
1989 Mini 998 twin cluster. Relay is marked Lucas 13DA; 12 volt naturally; DRC6520.

I had to rebuild the side / headlight swith, and improve the contacts onto the back of the switch, using appropriate slim screwdrivers to crimp the contacts a bit better, as they had been arcing.
The full beam flash works fine,
The sidelights turned on then the Dim Dip works fine with ignition on.
When I turn on headlights though they don't work neither full nor the normal power dip.

I have been checking the fuses in main 4 fuse box, as well as the triple line fuse blovk at back of air filter.
the rear fog also not working because I assume headlights not working.

Have I said enough to narrow it down to the DimDip Relay DRC6520. If it were poor earth at the headlights then the flash and dim would also not work.

Ay ideas welcome.

Dim Dip relay!!, recently diagnosed one that was the same, swapped it out for a good known one and it fixed the problem.

Find some one with a car that has working lights with dim dip and swap the relay to prove that the relay is at fault.

One certain Mini 'specialist' told my mate that there is never a problem with these relays, yet I have seen two with in the last year that have been faulty
