I found the car i want and am now thinking about making it my own. The first buy is going to be a set of big alloys. 13*7 maybe 13*6. i either want starmags or deepdish superlights. I think that they both look gorgeous and would suit my car. Just a couple of questions really. How difficult is it to fir 13*7 alloys? the car already has 13*5.5 on it but they not the greatest style. How much arch will need to be removed?what problems can occur with the MOT men? And where o where can you buy starmags from?website would be most usefull rather than just name. Cheers guys

Jamie

Fitting that width wheel you will need to chop even more out of the wing, how much is a matter of trial and error.

You can get Startmag from MegaMods/MegaMinis in Bromsgrove Birmingham (there's a thread on here with that addy and phone number somewhere )

The other thing which may be of issue is tyres. Check the FAQ

*edit* as for Mr Mot, same rules apply for any other wheel/tyre

dont forget that the unspung weight of a 13x7 mean that the chassis must be well set up and in good condition or it will handle like a pig

13x7 look good but you carnt have that much fun with them and they tram line and you have to have good shocks so they dont hit the arch there ok but thats about it

it wont bring any thing up with the MOT men, apart from the fact you will get through ball joints like no bodys busyness!

my last mini had 13x6's on (they are now on MOWOG's Car) and I found that it tramlined a lot even after sorting all the tracking, wheel alignment and suspension!

My current car has 10 x 5's on it and it handles like a dream! There is no tramlining, it turns quicker and sharper than the old car and when trying to park you don't have to fight with the steering wheel to turn!

I'm definitely not going back to 13's again!

Yup, Minis handle best on 10- inch wheels and get worse as you increase the size. As for the width...well at least you'll lighten the car after chopping half the wing off!

If you have the money and like the look of 13's go for it. Nothing really wrong with them. Just don't expect the car to handle NEARLY as well with them! And it is true some of the money will be required on fixing the suspension. The very least make sure your bearings and balljoints are in good condition and fit some uprated dampers (Sportspacks had Konis I believe from the factory)

i got these 13x6 (from minimadjonesy) i like the handling with them as it feels quite solid and are definately an improvement over 12" standard alloys, but i have never driven a mini on 10s, it is on my long term plan to convert to really wide 10s tho!

they do tramline a fair bit and this can be a bit worrying. :w00t:

they dont rub the arch on full lock, which i thought they would!
