Not sure if this is best in this section but here goes...

I hate to say it but the mini is becoming less and less practical as an everyday car i.e. motorway driving and the constant repairs. Of course I won't sell her but have been looking into Peugeot 205's which seems a good reliable, everyday motor with more than enough power for me :( Anyone of my age (20 with 2 years no claims and license for 2 years, garage available) got an idea of how much insurance could be and any pointers about these cars?

get one with a sunroof :(

:P im gona be looking for one without one for my next rally project :errr: lol dont want people taking the non sunroof ones haha

good cars though, friend rally's one, well actualy i knew loads of people who rally them because there good reliable cars...its just when you start fiddling with them when reliability goes...then again thats same with every car :)

friends even bought another 205, looks like a gti in pretty much every way but its a 1.8 turbo diesel, handles very well really dispite the heavier engine in the front...if your after econnomy you could look into them too....its and old style diesel too so quite easy to make faster by simply turning the actuator up just a few psi

Ooooooh!!

Sorry I'm all hungover and typed the wrong thing ^^^
The ones with sunroofs are loads better than the ones without so you definitely want one with a sunroof in Miami Blue!!

My mate has a miami blue 1.6 gti 205 (with a sunroof  ) she adores her car, it has its annoying habits like any car of that age, but its all easily sorted, she also has a white dimma and a black dimma! Spoilt girl!!

I had a 205 1.9 td. Great car, seriously modified and the engine wasn't original (out of a 306 and shoehorned in).

Great fun to drive - like driving a mini on steroids.

Only issue I had was over heating - most of the cooling system had been replaced, but I ended up cooking the engine and wasn't worth replacing given the costs involved - bitterly regret that and miss that car like mad.

Insurance (I'm in my 30s and been driving a good few years) - paid about £35 per month, but full no claims discount. I think at 20 I wouldn't have ever considered a 1.6, let alone a 1.9 like I had.

Why not go for a 1.4 XS - still a 205, be less on insurance and cheaper on the car tax as well. Just my opinion for what it is worth.
