H reg is about right for a 90 car.
Why do you think it's been changed?
What does the logbook say?

I think this is why:

Date of Liability 01 02 2009
Date of First Registration 01 08 1990
Year of Manufacture 1990
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1400CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
Vehicle Colour GREEN
Vehicle Type Approval null
The information contained on this page is correct at the time of enquiry.

If you are worried about it, RAC's car data check here http://www.rac.co.uk...car-data-check/ will tell you if it has been subject to registration mark changes and only costs a fiver. It's not always bad if it has - plenty of people buy personalised plates, and the reg mark yours has is certainly in the sort of range that DVLA sell off as personalised plates.

Well, they won't have any more letters than yours, numbers... that's just that yours was first registered before theirs A1 ABC, A2 ABC etc

H946 BNC.

I'd assume yours was registered before mine, hence the 32 not 946.

That doesn't follow, you can't tell when a car was registered from the number. Each area had a 2 letter code. For example a car with the registration L645 EOB. The last 2 letters of this tells you where the car was registered, in this case OB which is for Birmingham. The first letter tells you the age, in this case L is 01/08/93 - 31/07/94 . The other letter and the number are pretty much random

What make you think H32 ETA isn't original? H would be right for a 1990 car, and it's not unusual to have a 2 digit number. It's only numbers less than 20 that didn't generally get issued.

it should tell you on your V5 wether your registration has been changed or not.

Some registations do only have 1 or 2 numbers. H - R reg numbers 1-20 were sold by DVLA as select registrations and on S - Y reg numbers 1-31 were sold as select registrations. And from J reg onwards along with some higher numbers such as, multiples of 10 upto 100 and multiples of 100, those with matching numbers such as 666 or 333 and those with 123. A - G reg numbers 1-20 have been released more recently, but weren't available at the time.

This site shows you which are available:-

No it doesn't, but if your registration number is 'non transferable' that is a fair indication that the car my have had a private plate at some time.

The other letter and the number are pretty much random

They are not random, there is a sequence - of sorts.

My Racing Green was H99 ***, and I'm sure that was original, its no common, but certainly happens that some registrations are only 6 numerics long.
