The clutch bell housing on my mini has oxidised and gone all furry (the only way i can describe it)

without removing it from the engine bay is there any products out there that i can brush/pour on that will neutralise all the cr@P so that i can wash it all off

brake cleaning fluid , but it will strip any paint it comes in contact with which is a problem.

Having been a panel beater at Aston martin for 18 years, the only way we could get rid of corrosion on the aluminium panels was to sand blast it.

Not sure how much use this will be, but i was refurbing my rims which are quite heavily corroded and as Paul Wiginton had already said, i found sandblasting to be the easiest option! But then that broke so i resorted to a dremel with a wire attachment bit which took off all the corrosion! That may be a way to get in there with the engine in but its not going to be easy i cant imagine..

i wouldnt sandblast it off - bead blasting it much safer but like i say brake cleaning fluid will remove most of it if not all ( of course depending on how bad it is ) also such a small bit too!

I meant sand as a general term, wont make much difference on alloy that thick
