ensure you are actually firing on 4 cylinders, to do this, start the engine let it idle.. Then remove Number 1 HT lead from sparking plug, and earth it against block, the engine should start to loose revs or nearly stall. Then replace the lead, then move on to the next plug, if one of them doesnt change the revs than you are not firing on four.
i would check your ignition by:
Clean Spark plugs, Check HT leads are firmly on both Plug and Cap and the one from the coil.
Clean contacts on the Dizzy cap, and rotor arm.
If that doesnt solve it,
Write back.

Right this could be several things,
ensure you are actually firing on 4 cylinders, to do this, start the engine let it idle.. Then remove Number 1 HT lead from sparking plug, and earth it against block, the engine should start to loose revs or nearly stall. Then replace the lead, then move on to the next plug, if one of them doesnt change the revs than you are not firing on four.

Hmm ... i would suspect that is problem with one of the rockers .. may be take the rocker cover off and see if there is anything unsual ?
IF the above doesn't work.

just incase i need to do this if the above doesnt work... when you say "unusual" what would i be looking for?

Starting at the dizzy cap plug at about 2:45 going ANTI CLOCKWISE, The plug order is 1342, 1 being closest to the radiator.
The contacts are the metal bits inside the dizzy cap, the ROTOR ARM, is the plastic arm thing, that goes round inside the cap but connected to the Dizzy its self. it has a metal contact on the end of it.
Make sure you clean the HT leads, infact did you swap the HT leads firsts, as it could be a faulty lead, see if swapping the non firing lead, causes the misfire to move.

There is a diagram Somewere, but..
Make sure you clean the HT leads, infact did you swap the HT leads firsts, as it could be a faulty lead, see if swapping the non firing lead, causes the misfire to move.
regarding the plug order, 1342, i understand that is the order they go on on the dizzy, but is that also the order they are on the spark plug part (dunno what its called!), or are they just 1234? (or 4321)
