Took my Cooper into Tanvic Tyres at the weekend, as the front tyres had a slow puncture - they rebeaded / sealed and all seems to be fine now.

Anyway, whilst I was there, I asked them to take a look under the car, as we were recently run off the road by a Romanian lorry driver coming round a bend on our side of the road... Just wanted to check that no damage had been caused by going up the grass verge (which had a concrete edging). Fortunately, no damage had been caused, although they did point out that my two front anti-roll bars were bent.

Are these difficult to replace, and are they called something else, as I can't seem to find them in the Haynes manual? They were the bars which went diagonally from the middle of the wheel, and pointed in the direction of the back engine (or that area)...if that makes sense.

They also pointed out that the driver side CV boot was split and leaking...is this easy to replace as well?

Cheers!

lower arms??? not as likely to bend as the tie bars which go from the underside of the hum to the front of the subframe though.

Looks like the tie bar, from the pics on MiniSpares, I think.

Cheers biggav!

Any ideas why they would be bent? Not masively, just 'curved'.

pretty much every tie bar i ever had was bent.... they can be replaced with adjustable ones or uprated ones made of stronger stuff.

Cheers! Not really fussed about adjustable ones (trying to keep the car close to spec), but seem to only do adjustable and stronger - http://www.minispare....aspx?pid=34995

Thanks Stewart, will bear that in mind.

Goes to the back of the engine?

Tie-bars go to the front of the subframe, bottom arms pretty much point at the engine, and the steering track rod arms point towards the middle of the car.

Hmm, I'm confused now. Anyone have a picture of the underside of the front of the car...preferably a view from the rear?

Probably is the tie rods I can see someone who doesn't know Minis thinking they are anti roll bar.

If they're defo round rods wiggle the steering wheel, the one's that move are the track rods. tie rods go from the middle of the hub to the front of the car.
