Ok, installed a Sub and an amp the other day. only yesterday did I noice (after opening the boot while music was on) that my sub is acting like a normal Speaker...
Now I have a "Sub out" on my Head unit. Ive got it set on "Full" on the amp as the oter setting is for No bass at all.
How do I go about getting it to act as a sub and not a normal speaker?
And CHEAP! :cheese:

Sub output on head unit? What head unit do you have? This usually implies a filter built in to this exit, just a matter of switching it on on the head unit.
Also your amp really should have a filter, unless it utter C**p:\ I can't think of any amps to be honest (not even the cheapest brand name ones I know) that don't have even a simple filter system for a sub channel.
Some more details of your equipment would help!

sounds like a low pass/hi pass issue.

Ok, I have a AWIA CDC-R304
• dark silver facia (detachable)
• blue display/key illumination
• mos-fet 52w x 4 max output power
• dssa
• h-bass
• dimmer control
• drive-s
• source level adjuster
• 7 preset / 3 band eq
• front aux input jack
• pre / sub changeable line-out
• rds
My amp is a cheap C**p Sound Storm 400watt thing I got in amearica. it has a High Pass filter setting, and a "Full" setting.
I took my bedroom speakers apart AGES ago and it has a Crossover for the different components in the speaker box. Ive used put the crossover from that in my system and it hasnt made a difference at all...
Any ideas?
Cheers

Okay on your head unit you'll have to change it so that the output (line output) is SUB, not PRE-OUT. If SUB it should stick some sort of filter on it. If you select pre-out it will play full range of frequencies.
You sure your amp has a high-pass filter? What's the frequency range of the filter?

rite as been asked "You sure your amp has a high-pass filter? What's the frequency range of the filter?" If this filter drops low enough u can use this as a subsonic filter meaning u can have it set so the sub doesn't try and drop lower than it /the enclosure was designed. Then once u switch the sub pre out on u should either have a fixed lp filter or 1 u can adjust, then all should be good.

Highly doubt it will act as a subsonic, and even if it does won't make much of a difference to a budget set up.
If however the guy got it confused and the amp has a low pass filter it's all much easier. Just need details of head unit pre outs and confirmation of amp filters!
