Hi all,

Turk was MOTed yesterday and although he failed on the handbrake and both front gater seals everything else was fine.

So, I asked the tester about turks push start, lack of ignition key and steering lock and he said it was no problem. Bonus!

I kept my old ignition key just incase but it seemed all my worring was for nothing.

I posted this really because there are always so many opinions about the legalities of push starts and steering locks and as I have just been through an MOT I thought i'd share my new knowledge with all @ TMF! :D

So thats it really.....................was this a pointless post...........we'll see :)

Yes. Whether or not your car has passed an MOT is irrelevant. If you remove the steering lock of your car or change the way it works with the ignition you must fit a replacement immobilisation system that complies with the regulations. Nobody's opinion, it's the law. The MOT does not test whether your car is road legal to the letter of the law, only that it is safe. I loose count of the amount of times that has been written on here.
