I'm wondering why the brake pedal on my 88 city sticks down sometimes. Brakes work OK but too often I have to lift the pedal back up with my foot otherwise the brakes stay on.

I have oiled the various links and pivots up to the servo, so what else could it be?

Thanks,

Steve

Check the spring on the pivot at the top of the pedal, it may be broken, dislodged or caught.

sounds like dodgy return spring, also give it a good dash of lubrication to allow it to pivot more freely

but im sure you'll find the problems the coil spring

There is also a secondary return spring on servo cars, in the upper pedal box in the engine bay pulling the servo bell cramk back into place. Check this and make sure there's nothing in the upper pedal box jamming it up as debris tends to collect in there.
