aint kyrpton the Emissons thing used at MOT?
Rollers will tune your carb, dizzy and other components if required to run at there best providing best proformance.
This includes needle, advance curves, dashpot oil, idle speed, choke speed, mixture etc.
Kyrpton thing just measures your emissions if i am thinking of right thing. Which will only change if you mess with the mixture of the car etc.

Using a Krypton, which has the gas analyser you can tune a car, you can also achieve the same effect using in a colortune and strobe to be honest, what you can't do is tune the engine while under load, which is what the rolling road achieves.
You have the ability to alter settings while the motor is running under load say @ 60 mph, and have an imediate feedback on any adjustments made, this is how it becomes possibly to get an accurate advance curve for your engine, along with needle specification, springs even spark plugs...
I liken it to going down the gym of an evening vs having a weekend at a health spa.
As for how much, look to spend a couple of hundred for a good session, based on 50/75 pounds an hour.
