My alternator has begun to squeak a little and I was just wondering about the best remedy for this as it's best to hit little problems before they get into big problems!

It's charging fine. Is it best to simply take apart and lube the bearings (What lube?) or refurb (Can you buy kits and how much are they?) or are they pretty sealed and it's not possible to service them? :)

Sure its not just the belt slipping?

It could be, but it's pretty tight and it still squeaks when the engine is at a steady speed. Tis only a quiet 'bearing like' squeak, nothing loud!

Any good auto electrician can fit new brushes and things. I got mine overhauled a few years back and it's still going strong. It cost a fraction of the price of an exchange unit.

I would check the fan belt to see if its worn, if its worn it can still slip even if its tight.

If the belts not that old then it's possibly the alternator bearing.

I had a squeeky belt once, wacked a bit of chalk on the belts and it cured the problem
