Really depends on the sub, but plan for no less than the diameter of the pole vent/piece.

Is the sub vented ? most are but its worth checking..

minimum space behind magnet = mounting depth - subwoofer depth

might want to ask the ebayer how deep the speakers are.

but basically you need at lest 137mm.

do i need extra space behind the lowest part of the sub (i.e. magnet) when its sitting in the box? or is it just a case of as long as it doesnt touch the back of the box and the volume is right?

?? guys i really answered this in my first post..

;D look email the seller ask:

1: Is the sub vented

if no the just make sure the base of the magnet does not touch the back of the enclosure
if yes, then ask

2: What is the diameter of the pole piece

but if you had to guess i would leave 1.5" or 1" min.

Where are you planning to install this sub by the way ?

I want to make an enclosure that mimicks the lower part of the rear seat but obviously slightly thicker and fit 2 subs in t it. Im just reying to work out how much thicker it has to be.

Is that sub a fair buy for th money? or is the MKIII the way forward or anything else you can recommend for around that budget??

sorry for being a bit thick

If you saved up a little you could get some shallow mounting subs, making your installation a little easier. Hertz also do a nice sub at £100 that'll work well in tight spaces.
