With my noisy engine and exhaust; when travelling at speed - (anything over 50+) and pressing the horn I can hardly hear it! Its a standard hi tone horn on a 1987 city. meep meep!

I have had airhorns in the past but have gone off the idea, to much space needed and do not sound that nice. There is a train horn on ebay but thats a silly idea! so what horns do you chaps have that are quite agressive? So i know what car to take them off when i go down the breakers.

Merc horns always sound good.

I ended up getting new Hella horns for my car. They sound typically German car to me. Nice and loud too. I figured I might not be seen driving my little Mini but I'm damn well gong to be HEARD!

These horns are quite good i had one on my fiesta van and for the space they take up they produce a lot of noise and the tone is quite distinctive as there are actually two horn units running in tandem... the only thing to bear in mind is that though they are small they are heavy so make sure its well mounted!!

I've got air horns on one of my Minis, and a pair of horns from a Mk2 Ford Granada on my Clubman. The air horns definitely make your presence known.

My horns loud on my landrover discovery and it sounds decent as well. theres loads of discoveries being broke on ebay etc. so would imagine it would be fairly cheap

I used to have air horns on the 25 till the compressor died, probably due to over use :) with the horns neatly hidden behind the front number plate.

My Accord has the most pitiful hon known to man, a normal mini one is more manly lol

But my van (2000 Escort Van) has a cool twin tone agressive one, i suggest hearing those too, they really are loud.

I appreciate that this may be a controversial suggestion, but I acquired a Bini convertible earlier this year (just so I don't constantly use my beloved Mpi on commuting - honest) and it has the loudest horn I have ever encountered. Scared the *&@£$ out of me the first time I used it. Bet there's a few of them in breakers yards by now...

Appreciate many people may regard this as heresy, but if you're looking for practicality / safety over authenticity, this may be a good move.

(ducks for cover)
